This Saturday, in South Korea, Montrealer Jessica Camara (13-4, 3 KO) faced South Korean Hyun Mi Choi (21-1-1, 5 KO) for the WBA Gold lightweight championship. The latter is the former WBA super featherweight champion and has never suffered a defeat. Camara, meanwhile, had suffered a controversial defeat in her final world championship opportunity against Kali Reis.

In the first three rounds, the fight was rather close as both boxers tried to calculate the distance and analyze their opponent. From the fourth round, Camara began to have the upper hand in the exchanges thanks to a good direct shot with the right hand which regularly hit the target. She was also very effective in counterattacking with her left hook following dodges with her upper body movements.

The second half of the fight was very favorable for the Montrealer. She increased the pressure and volume of punches thrown. The South Korean took a lot of hits due to her poor defense. The Montrealer therefore won the fight by decision of the judges in a spectacular performance.

WBA Gold lightweight champion, it will be interesting to watch what happens next for Jessica. In this category, there is obviously Katie Taylor, WBA and WBC champion, but who should not keep her titles for very long given that she is the undisputed super-lightweight champion.

The WBO champion is the British Rhiannon Dixon, the IBF title will be contested today between Beatriz Fereira and Yanina Lescano. We must also take into consideration the IBO champion of the category, Caroline Dubois. In short, several opportunities should open up in the category for the Montrealer, now WBA Gold champion.
