The 2025 season of Eye of the Tiger kicked off this Thursday, live from the Cabaret du Casino de Montréal. Headlining the event, Arthur Biyarslanov (18-0, 15 KOs) faced off against Mohamed Mimoune (24-7, 5 KOs), who had never suffered a knockout loss in his career. Here’s a recap of the night’s action.

A Dominant Performance from Biyarslanov

Right from the opening bell, Arthur Biyarslanov applied relentless pressure on Mohamed Mimoune, targeting both the body and the head with powerful shots. The Frenchman maintained a high guard, allowing him to weather the storm in the first round. However, in the second round, Biyarslanov sent his opponent to the canvas and swiftly closed the show before the round’s end.

This marked the Montreal fighter’s third successful defense of his NABF super lightweight title, a victory that should earn him a spot in the WBC’s top 15 rankings.

Albert Ramirez Successfully Defends His WBA International Title

In the evening’s co-main event, Venezuelan light heavyweight Albert Ramirez (20-0, 17 KOs) defended his WBA International title against Croatia’s Marko Calic (15-2, 9 KOs) in a scheduled 10-round contest. Ramirez started cautiously, working behind his jab and upper-body movement before flooring his opponent twice. Calic’s corner decided to stop the fight in the third round, securing another dominant win for Ramirez.

Mehmet Unal Overcomes His Toughest Test Yet

Mehmet Unal (12-0, 10 KOs) faced the biggest challenge of his career against seasoned Argentinian veteran Ezequiel Maderna (31-14, 21 KOs), who had lasted seven rounds against Imam Khataev last September. After a rough start, where he absorbed numerous shots, Unal turned the tide and delivered a devastating right hand that ended the fight in the third round.

While Unal’s defensive flaws remain apparent, one thing is certain: he’s a heavy hitter capable of turning any fight around with a single punch.

Other Results from the Night

  • Christopher Guerrero (13-0, 8 KOs) stopped Dennis Dauti (25-6-2, 9 KOs) with a vicious left hook to the body in the fourth round.
  • Moreno Fendero (9-0, 7 KOs) secured a spectacular third-round knockout against Edison Demaj (13-4-1, 7 KOs).
  • Avery Martin Duval (13-0-1, 7 KOs) defeated Keshan Jacoby Koaly (6-2-1, 2 KOs) by unanimous decision (78-73 x2, 77-74).
