Katie Taylor Wins the Trilogy

In a historic event held at Madison Square Garden and streamed live on Netflix, boxing fans witnessed the long-awaited third showdown between Katie Taylor (25-1, 6 KOs) and Amanda Serrano (47-4-1, 31 KOs). This fight started off more cautiously than their previous two encounters, with both fighters looking to establish their jab early on.

In the second round, Amanda Serrano found success repeatedly landing her straight left hand. The following rounds followed a similar pattern: Serrano applied constant pressure, looking to cut off the ring, while Taylor relied on her movement and counterpunching. However, the Irish star seemed to have the edge thanks to her superior accuracy.

The bout ultimately ended in a majority decision victory for Katie Taylor (97-93 x 2, 95-95). Less of a war than their first two meetings, this clash was more of a tactical chess match between two of the greatest female boxers in history. This win may further cement Katie Taylor’s legacy as the greatest female boxer of all time.

Jessica Camara Shines Despite Defeat

Montreal’s Jessica Camara (14-5-1, 3 KOs) had the chance to fight for the WBC interim super lightweight title against former undisputed champion Chantelle Cameron (21-1, 8 KOs). Cameron came out on top with a unanimous decision victory (99-91 x 2, 98-92). However, the judges’ scorecards didn’t fully reflect the competitiveness of the fight, as Camara put on a strong showing, relying on her counterpunching and landing clean shots throughout.

This performance could open the door to more international opportunities for the Quebec native. The former WBA Gold champion showed she can compete with the very best in her division.

Tammara Thibeault Becomes Mandatory Challenger

Facing highly ranked American Mary Casamassa (6-1, 1 KO), Tammara Thibeault (3-0, 2 KOs) stepped into her first scheduled eight-round bout, with major stakes on the line. The winner would become the mandatory challenger for the WBA middleweight title. The Canadian Olympian had little trouble asserting her dominance, controlling the fight from start to finish with power and precision. She secured a fifth-round TKO victory.

This win solidifies her position as the mandatory challenger. She is now expected to fight for a world title by the end of the year — a remarkable milestone.
