Revolution 2: Two World Contenders in Action on January 31 at La Tohu
Montreal, Thursday, January 9, 2025 – Canada Fighting Club has crafted an exciting new professional boxing card showcasing Quebec talent on January 31 at La Tohu in Montreal. Headlining the event are two world contenders, Shakeel Phinn and Mathieu Germain, who will set the ring ablaze in the main and co-main events. The card also features a rematch between Alex Perron and Blaze Sylvestre, as well as the professional debuts of several promising athletes.
The main event will see the WBC #14-ranked super middleweight contender, Shakeel Phinn (26-3-2, 17 KOs), take on tough Argentine Facundo Nicolas Galovar (15-12-2, 9 KOs). Galovar is no stranger to facing world-class competition, having gone the distance against Albert Ramirez, currently ranked #2 by both the WBC and WBA, as well as Mehmet Unal and Wilkens Mathieu. This is an opportunity for the "Jamaican Juggernaut" to shine in front of his Montreal fans, young and old, and deliver the dominant, decisive victory they’ve been waiting for since his last fight.
In the co-main event, Mathieu “G-Time” Germain (25-2-1, 10 KOs), ranked 12th by the IBF at super lightweight, will face the experienced Carlos Daniel Aquino (22-17-2, 14 KOs) after his original opponent had to withdraw due to an accident. Following his knockout win over Cristian Palma last September, Germain aims to keep his momentum going and delight his supporters in this 10-round clash as he edges closer to a potential major international bout.
Cameroonian-born boxer Stéphane Fondjo (13-1-1, 9 KOs) will make his Quebec debut in an 8-round contest against John Akurigo (19-7, 18 KOs). Fondjo is on a mission to make his mark on the Montreal boxing scene and plans to impress fans with a spectacular performance that will put his name in the spotlight.
The card will also feature a selection of all-Quebec clashes, including Alex Perron (1-0) versus Blaze Sylvestre (1-1) in a rematch of the fight of the night from the Camara vs. Hunter undercard last September.
Meanwhile, Marcy Chery (0-1) is determined to secure his first win in his second appearance in the big leagues, facing Tevin Terrance (1-2-2, 1 KO). In a matchup that could go either way, undefeated Winner Bondo (2-0) will take on Simon Risler (1-0-1). Both fighters are entering their third professional bout and are ready to thrill the crowd.
Women’s boxing will also take center stage with the professional debut of Sophie Le Grand, who has accepted the challenge of facing an experienced opponent, Argentine fighter Gisela Noemi Luna (3-6-1, 1 KO).
Unfortunately, due to injuries, the bouts involving Sara Couillard and Yoan Trottier have been canceled. However, Canada Fighting Club may add more fights to the card as negotiations are still underway. One thing is certain: this event will kick off the year in a big way for Quebec boxing.
Tickets for the "Revolution 2" gala are available at La Tohu’s box office, and the promoter wishes to remind spectators that fans of all ages are welcome, as there are no 18+ age restrictions.
