This past Saturday at the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan, Quebec’s Caroline Veyre (10-1, 0 KOs) claimed the WBC Silver featherweight title with a dominant unanimous decision win (99-91 x2, 98-92) over France’s Licia Boudersa (24-4-2, 4 KOs). Veyre executed a flawless game plan, sticking to her signature “in and out” movement to land clean shots throughout the bout and clearly control the action. Her progression since signing with Salita Promotions has been nothing short of impressive.
This victory is a major milestone for Veyre, who now becomes the mandatory challenger for the WBC world featherweight title, currently held by the formidable American Tiara Brown. Undefeated in 19 professional fights, Brown would represent a significant challenge should the matchup come to fruition.
Claressa Shields Remains Undefeated
In the evening’s main event, the self-proclaimed “GWOAT,” Claressa Shields (17-0, 3 KOs), unified all the major world titles in the women’s heavyweight division with a lopsided win over New Zealand’s Lani Daniels (11-3-2, 1 KO). As expected, Shields showcased her elite technical and tactical skillset, winning nearly every round on the judges’ scorecards (100-90, 99-91 x2).
At this point, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to find a worthy challenger for Shields, who has already dominated nearly every division she’s stepped into.
