Former WBC light flyweight world champion Kim Clavel is back in the ring on April 4, at the Cabaret Casino in Montreal, where she will be the evening's headliner.
After her heartbreaking setback in the IBF and WBO title unification fight against Argentine champion Evelin Nazarena Bermudez, last October 7 at Place Bell in Laval, the Quebecer will cross her gloves against the Spanish flyweight champion (112 lbs), Fara El Bousairi (8-3, 3 KOs).
The latter is on a run of three victories since a defeat on points in England against the British Chloe Watson.
The Clavel-El Bousairi clash is scheduled for 10 rounds at a weight of 110 pounds.
In the semi-final of the evening, Marie-Pier Houle (9-1-1, 2KO) will be in her second duel of 10 engagements when she faces the very experienced Argentine Marisa Joana Portillo (20-18-3, 4KO) .
Houle, led by ex-pugilist Sébastien Gauthier, will be making his second appearance in the arena since his defeat in the WBO welterweight world championship (147 lbs) against the British Sandy Ryan. She now plays at super-lightweight (140 lbs).
Middleweight Derek Pomerleau (7-0, 5KO) will have his biggest test of his career against tough Mexican Carlos Mohamed Rodriguez (15-12-1, 6 KO).
The latter gave the Jamaican Joshua Frazier a scare, escaping a split decision during his last outing, last October 21 in Pickering, Ontario.
This will be a first eight-round clash for Pomerleau, a protégé of coach Stéphan Larouche.
Montreal light heavyweight Reid Twohey will make his professional debut for the occasion. The boxer managed by Ian Mackillop will face veteran Czech kickboxer Stepan Guba. The latter will also make his boxing debut.
In the welterweight category (140 lbs), the Grant brothers' colt, Theo Owusu (3-0, 2 KO), will contest his first six-round duel against Czech left-hander Petr Novak (1-0, 1 KO).
The latter is a seasoned pugilist among amateurs, notably competing in the European Games in 2023 and the youth world championship in 2016. He also came close against double Cuban Olympic gold medalist Andy Cruz in 2019.
As a curtain raiser, Montreal super-lightweight Zacharie Loiseau (3-0-1, 1 KO) will face a rival to be determined in a duel scheduled for four rounds, also at super-lightweight.
