Tammara Thibeault Secures Her First Professional Win
By William Dumoulin
This Friday, live from the Caribe Royale Casino in Orlando, Florida, Olympian and amateur world champion Tammara Thibeault (1-0, 0 KOs) stepped into the ring for her professional debut. Her transition to the pro ranks coincides with the signing of a promotional contract with Most Valuable Promotions (MVP), the firm headed by Jake Paul. Interestingly, Canada Fighting was the first and only media outlet to announce Thibeault’s signing with MVP in advance.
For this significant milestone, she faced Natasha Spence (8-7-2, 6 KOs), an experienced Canadian boxer. The bout was scheduled for four three-minute rounds. While these three-minute rounds are uncommon in women’s boxing, this format had previously been used during Beatriz Ferreira’s professional debut against Taynna Cardoso in 2022, contrary to recent media claims.
With her notable reach advantage, the southpaw from Shawinigan skillfully imposed her style. Her precise jab and powerful backhand consistently hit the mark, while Spence struggled to mount any meaningful offense. In the end, Thibeault secured a unanimous decision victory (40-36 on all scorecards), delivering an impressive performance in her first outing.
The future looks bright for Tammara Thibeault. Backed by Most Valuable Promotions, a group with significant resources and a clear commitment to advancing women’s boxing, the opportunities ahead are vast. However, it remains to be seen whether she will compete in Quebec and carve out a prominent place in the local market while primarily developing her career internationally.
One thing is certain: Thibeault is arguably one of the most promising talents in the history of Quebec boxing.
