"G-TIME" CONFIRMED ON THE CAMARA VS. HUNTER CARD

MONTREAL, Tuesday, September 3, 2024 – A bout has been confirmed for IBF World No. 8 contender Mathieu Germain (24-2-1, 9 KOs) on September 14, as he will participate in the boxing event presented at La Tohu by Canada Fighting Club. In the co-main event, WBA Gold World Champion Jessica Camara (13-4, 3 KOs) will defend her title for the first time against Ontario's Bonnie Hunter (4-3, 2 KOs). Germain will face off against Chilean veteran Cristian Palma (33-15-2, 7 KOs).

Known as "G-Time," Germain promises to deliver an excellent fight to his loyal Quebec fans. More motivated than ever, Germain will aim to add a seventh consecutive victory to his already impressive record, and, most importantly, to maintain his hard-earned rankings. He will certainly have his hands full with a seasoned veteran like Palma, who boasts over 320 rounds of experience compared to 186 for the Montreal native.

Never one to shy away from a challenge, the Chilean nicknamed "El Tigre" has fought regularly on the international stage, including in Canada, the United States, Russia, and Argentina. He has also competed for several minor titles, such as the WBC International, WBO Intercontinental, and IBF International belts. Cristian Palma fully intends to surprise boxing fans on September 14.

To ensure that spectators are thrilled during this first boxing event at La Tohu since 2018, Canada Fighting Club has put together an electrifying fight card. A heavyweight bout between two Canadians, Jaye Byard (7-4, 7 KOs) from British Columbia and Shane Upshaw (3-2-4, 2 KOs) from Nova Scotia, has been added. Also, Jean-Gardy François (4-0-1, 3 KOs) will return to action against Frédéric Thomas (1-1) in a typical Montreal showdown. In the super featherweight division, Quebec's adopted son Blaze Sylvestre (1-0) will face Alexendre Giraldeau Perron in his professional debut.

The lightweight division will also be represented by Theotilus Owusu (4-0-1, 2 KOs), who will take on John Elroy Fruto (1-4). Spectators will also witness a unique super middleweight bout as Reid Towhey (2-0) faces Marcy Chery (debut) for the third time, but for the first time as professionals. The trilogy is currently tied 1-1, and both athletes are eager to close this chapter with a victory.

We should also highlight the professional debuts of two former Canadian national team athletes: Sammy Morisset, who will face Obed Sepulveda (0-2-1), and Natali Fagan, who will square off against Maxime Turcotte Novosedlik (1-0). Both newcomers will compete in the welterweight division.

Tickets for the Camara vs. Hunter gala on September 14 are currently on sale at the La Tohu box office. In the meantime, we invite you to follow and check out Canada Fighting’s social media and blog to stay informed on the latest in professional boxing, both locally and internationally, by using the hashtag #CamaraHunter.
